Green Vale Homes has signed up to the Government’s RESPECT Standard for Housing Management. This standard aims to ensure that local agencies tackle unacceptable behaviour and help build stronger local communities.

A lot of our work is already centred on acting early in order to prevent anti-social behaviour occurring. Among our activities:

·         We have introduced starter tenancies.
·         We make regular contact with all tenants, with additional visits to new tenants.
·         We provide extra support to young people between the ages of 18 and 25.
·         We communicate regularly with tenants via our newsletters and courtesy calls.
·         We provide easy access to our Clean and Green Team, who respond quickly to remove graffiti and deal with fly tipping.
·         We have a dedicated Anti-Social Behaviour Officer, who is trained to assist with all types of nuisance problems.
·         We have purchased noise monitoring and a portable covert digital CCTV system to improve evidence gathering.
·         We work with other agencies to actively support young people living on our estates.
·         We work closely with our partners, e.g. Police, Youth Services and Rossendale Borough Council, to identify areas that are causing concern, and provide a more visible presence on local estates.

If you would like more information or are interested in helping us deliver the aims of the RESPECT Standard, please contact Bacup Neighbourhood Housing Manager Sharon Loney on 01706 874140.

WANTED! Street Ambassadors

Keen to keep local residents informed and involved in community safety issues, Police in Rossendale are searching for members of the public to act as “street ambassadors”.

The idea, which is the brainchild of new Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Stuart Greenwood, is designed to consolidate the police’s partnership with the local community and enhance community confidence and reassurance.

The role of a street ambassador will include circulating police newsletters and other information to the wider community and keeping residents informed about what officers are doing to address local concerns.

Stuart said: “Neighbourhood policing is all about officers work in partnership with local communities. Fortunately, across the Valley we already have some excellent working relationships with residents through schemes like PACT and Neighbourhood Watch but these are very crime focussed.

“The Street Ambassador scheme is more about reassurance and getting information across to local people at street level.
“A number of individuals have already expressed an interest in the role, but we are looking for more. If you think it’s something you might be interested in, these please give us a call.”

Further information and advice about the new scheme is available from PC Philip Buck in the Crime Prevention Office at Rossendale Police Station on 01706 237325.

Police launch new Neighborhood information website
