Existing tenants of Pennine Housing 2000 may be eligible to purchase their current home under the Preserved Right to Buy scheme or the Right to Acquire scheme.

To qualify for the Preserved Right to Buy you must have been a tenant of Calderdale MBC or Sheffield CC when your property transferred to Pennine Housing (see dates below) and have continually been a tenant of Pennine Housing ever since without a break in tenancy. The applicable stock transfer dates are as follows:

  • Calderdale - 5 March 2001
  • Sheffield (Wisewood, Wadsley and Loxley) - 20 November 2006
  • Sheffield (Manor Park and Harold Lambert Court) - 26 March 2007

If you became a tenant of Pennine Housing 2000 after these dates you may qualify for the Right to Acquire.

To qualify for either scheme you must have been a tenant for a specific length of time. If your tenancy with Pennine Housing 2000 began before 18 January 2005 you will need to have spent a total of 2 years as a public sector tenant. If your tenancy began after 18 January 2005 you will need to have been a public sector tenant for 5 years. You don't need to have spent this time at the same address or with the same landlord, the duration of different tenancies can be added together to total 2 or 5 years as applicable.

Also if you had a tenancy with another social landlord immediately before your Pennine Housing tenancy, without a break between the tenancies, the commencement date of the previous tenancy is used to determine whether you need 2 of 5 years worth of tenancies.
