You may be entitled to some Housing Benefit from Calderdale or Sheffield Council to help you pay your rent.

You could be entitled to full or part Housing Benefit if

  • You are on benefits eg JSA, Income Support, Incapacity Benefit, Pension Credit
  • You work and are on a low wage
  • You don’t have too much capital/savings – the limit is £16000 unless you are on Guaranteed Pension Credit (for people 60 and over)

How to claim

If you are a new Pennine tenant

We will give you a Housing Benefit form before you sign up for your property and a list of documents you will need to make the claim.

When you sign up for the property, we will check and verify your claim (this means we copy and stamp the documents you bring). We send this to the relevant Housing Benefit office who will work out if you are entitled to any Housing Benefit.
